Fun on Fridays!

For the past couple of Fridays we have had family fun night! 2 weeks ago we went on our first family picnic to the park in our neighborhood. Cohen LOVES to be outside, so of course he was happy the entire time. He also ate his first strawberry that night. I wish I had a picture of that face! By the look on his face you would have thought that he just ate the worst thing he ever tasted, but he kept going back for more!

Last Friday night we took Cohen to his first Mavs game! They were great seats (thanks Neal for the free tickets!) He was in awe the entire game. He couldn't quite take it all in....

If you'll notice he's staring very seriously in every picture. He couldn't take his eyes off the lights and the jumbotron!

Photo Shoot!

About a month ago we had a little photo shoot with Cohen. They were his 6 month pictures... he is now 7 1/2 months old. I know, I'm a little behind.

FYI... Cohen started saying his first word last week. Guess what it is.... MAMA!! I'm not sure he knows exactly what it means. But when he wants anything he says it. If he's hungry... mama, if he's sleepy...mama, if he wants to be held... mama. I'll try to get it on video and post it.

Sunday was my dad's 51st birthday...yes, Cohen has young grandparents. Cohen decided to make a little something for Papa for his birthday. No, I do not usually let him play with his food like this, but I thought that in celebration of Papa's birthday I would let him. Here is what he created....

March Madness

For Chad and I this is the best time of year for sports watching! It's the one month of the year when College Basketball is good, the Mavs start heating up for the playoffs (if we make it) and Rangers open their season (for the next couple of months we will cheer on the Rangers with fervor and great hope that this will be "the year.")

A week and a half ago we left Cohen with my parents and went down to Houston to watch the NCAA tournament for Kevin's 30th birthday. It was nice to have a weekend away and a lot of adult time without having to work around Cohen's eating, nap and bedtime schedule. Even though we were glad to get away, we couldn't get home fast enough to see him! Here's a picture of Carla (chad's mom), Kellie (my sister in law), and me on one of our girl times while the guys were at the games. Yes... I forgot to mention that I didn't get to go to the games, just Chad. The tickets were pretty expensive.

Easter and more...

So, what has been happening around here lately?? Hmmm... a couple of weeks ago I had to leave Cohen and Chad at home for two days while I went on our staff retreat. When I returned home Cohen had made a sign for me that welcomed me home. Man, was I happy to get home to my boys! A couple of days later we left to go to Austin for the State Basketball Tournament. Chad goes every year, but this year he let Cohen and I go with him. Kevin and Kellie live in Austin, so really for Cohen and I it was just a trip to see them. I did get to see 3 games, and Cohen saw 2. But that doesn't compare to the 18 Chad watched! What's even more interesting is that he watches that many every year and he can probably tell you who won in the 2nd round of 2A 5 years ago....or any other obscure piece of basketball knowledge you want to know. Here is a picture of Cohen with his Aunt Kellie. We took his bath tub along with us and Kellie decided to hop in with him.

This year's basketball banquet was a little sad. This group of graduating seniors is the class that Chad has had since they were Freshmen when he first started coaching 4 years ago. They went to the 3rd round in playoffs and were the District Champs this year!

We had a great Easter. Saturday we had our All-Church Picnic and Easter Egg Hunt with around 600 people. It was fun, but I'm not sure Cohen knew what to think of it all.

Sunday we woke up to see what the Easter Bunny had brought us. Since I work in the "church world" I have to be at our church on Easter and Christmas, so my parents usually come and stay with us so that we can all be together. Yes, the Easter Bunny still comes to see us all...Cohen got 2 Easter baskets. One from Grammy and Papa and one from Mom and Dad. He got a pair of Batman sunglasses in his basket and didn't want to take them off.

My mom sent me these pics that she took with her camera. You can kind of see the t-shirt they bought him in the bottom picture. It's his first Eskimo Joe shirt! We got his 6 month pics taken today, so I will post those next week when I get them back.

The Big News....

Ok, first let me say that for those of you guys that actually care, I am so sorry to keep you waiting for my "big news." I really thought I was going to be able to post it weeks ago. So, here it is.....
I have started my own company called Cassy Lawson Events. Some of you already knew this so i'm sure you're somewhat disappointed and are going, "that is it? That's not news!" Anyway I wanted to wait until my website was done before I announced it and it's pretty much done now. It is www.cassylawsonevents.com
If you have anyone who is planning a birthday party, wedding, reunion, corporate event, non-profit event (you get the idea), send them my way! I'm doing my services for about 1/2 of the going DFW rate right now in order to build my business.

We're in Austin right now at the Basketball State Tournament so I don't have pics with me to post. Cohen turned 6 months this past week. He's starting to look more like a little boy and less like a baby everyday! Somebody help... I need to figure out how to freeze time!

His sleeping is doing better. Of course, we have been praying for months about his sleep. I was on our staff retreat Sun-Tues and while I was there I had some of our intercessors pray for him. When I called Chad on Monday to check in and see how they were doing he said, "you will never believe what Cohen did last night... he slept through the night!" I said, "I know." He slept through the night for the next 3 nights. He didn't last night, but I just chalk that up to being out of town... he had to sleep in his Pack N Play last night which is not the most comfortable thing in the world! All that to say...sometimes you just need someone to interceed on your behalf!
