Easter and more...

So, what has been happening around here lately?? Hmmm... a couple of weeks ago I had to leave Cohen and Chad at home for two days while I went on our staff retreat. When I returned home Cohen had made a sign for me that welcomed me home. Man, was I happy to get home to my boys! A couple of days later we left to go to Austin for the State Basketball Tournament. Chad goes every year, but this year he let Cohen and I go with him. Kevin and Kellie live in Austin, so really for Cohen and I it was just a trip to see them. I did get to see 3 games, and Cohen saw 2. But that doesn't compare to the 18 Chad watched! What's even more interesting is that he watches that many every year and he can probably tell you who won in the 2nd round of 2A 5 years ago....or any other obscure piece of basketball knowledge you want to know. Here is a picture of Cohen with his Aunt Kellie. We took his bath tub along with us and Kellie decided to hop in with him.

This year's basketball banquet was a little sad. This group of graduating seniors is the class that Chad has had since they were Freshmen when he first started coaching 4 years ago. They went to the 3rd round in playoffs and were the District Champs this year!

This is Luke, one of Chad's favorite students and players.

We had a great Easter. Saturday we had our All-Church Picnic and Easter Egg Hunt with around 600 people. It was fun, but I'm not sure Cohen knew what to think of it all.

Sunday we woke up to see what the Easter Bunny had brought us. Since I work in the "church world" I have to be at our church on Easter and Christmas, so my parents usually come and stay with us so that we can all be together. Yes, the Easter Bunny still comes to see us all...Cohen got 2 Easter baskets. One from Grammy and Papa and one from Mom and Dad. He got a pair of Batman sunglasses in his basket and didn't want to take them off.

Still sporting the glasses...

My little Eskimo Joe!

My mom sent me these pics that she took with her camera. You can kind of see the t-shirt they bought him in the bottom picture. It's his first Eskimo Joe shirt! We got his 6 month pics taken today, so I will post those next week when I get them back.

The Big News....

Ok, first let me say that for those of you guys that actually care, I am so sorry to keep you waiting for my "big news." I really thought I was going to be able to post it weeks ago. So, here it is.....
I have started my own company called Cassy Lawson Events. Some of you already knew this so i'm sure you're somewhat disappointed and are going, "that is it? That's not news!" Anyway I wanted to wait until my website was done before I announced it and it's pretty much done now. It is www.cassylawsonevents.com
If you have anyone who is planning a birthday party, wedding, reunion, corporate event, non-profit event (you get the idea), send them my way! I'm doing my services for about 1/2 of the going DFW rate right now in order to build my business.

We're in Austin right now at the Basketball State Tournament so I don't have pics with me to post. Cohen turned 6 months this past week. He's starting to look more like a little boy and less like a baby everyday! Somebody help... I need to figure out how to freeze time!

His sleeping is doing better. Of course, we have been praying for months about his sleep. I was on our staff retreat Sun-Tues and while I was there I had some of our intercessors pray for him. When I called Chad on Monday to check in and see how they were doing he said, "you will never believe what Cohen did last night... he slept through the night!" I said, "I know." He slept through the night for the next 3 nights. He didn't last night, but I just chalk that up to being out of town... he had to sleep in his Pack N Play last night which is not the most comfortable thing in the world! All that to say...sometimes you just need someone to interceed on your behalf!

Long time, no blog (and no sleep)...

Ok, I really do have a great excuse (kind of)... I have been waiting to blog because I have had this big announcement to make that I thought was going to be ready any day now so I have been holding out for that (no, I'm not pregnant)... but the announcement is still not ready to make and I have been feeling really guilty about not blogging lately. SO, you'll have to wait a few more days for that big THING I have to announce...

What else has been going on? Hmmm... well, as some of you know Cohen is STILL not sleeping through the night! You know, we did the BabyWise thing and he started sleeping through the night at about 10 weeks, but that only lasted about a month. I can count on one hand the amount of times he has done it since. So, if any of you moms out there have any advice for us just let me know. Here's the thing...we don't feed him, we don't even pick him up. We just stick his paci back in his mouth, flip him back over (he's a stomach sleeper), pat him on the bottom a few times and he goes right back to sleep. That happens at least twice every night, most of the time more. The past couple of nights we have tried to let him cry it out. Our limit is 20 minutes, after that we go in, except it takes a lot longer to get him to go back to sleep because he is so worked up. I think the purpose of this method is that he teaches himself to cry to sleep, but he has yet to do that so we've gotten nowhere the past couple of nights and the "all-nighters" have been for nothing! All that said, I really do have a sweet child but if anyone has any sleeping through the night advice I could really use it right about now. Here are some recent pics of my cute little guy. I think he gets a little more gorgeous each day....

This is his crawling position. Ok, it's more of a swim and a scoot.

This is his kissy face...it cracks me up everytime!

These eyes get me every time....

He thinks I'm funny. I'm trying to enjoy it while it lasts...

This is one of our tactics to try to keep him from rolling over and waking himself up...most of the time it doesn't work...

This is his new favorite hat. He wears it when we go on stroller rides so his bald and white (he's got his dad's coloring) head doesn't get burned.

This is my favorite thing in the world right now....

Just pictures....

For those of you who just check out blogs for the pictures... this one's for you!

This is my little man at his 4 month doctor's appt. Just sittin naked waiting for Dr. Capote. He is so hot natured. I was freezing and put on a sweater and he was completely content in his birthday suit!

I love this picture of him and his Nana (Chad's mom.) We met them in Sherman for dinner on her birthday.

This is why I have to strap him in! He puts everything in his mouth these days and if he can't grab it and put it in his mouth, he'll do whatever it takes to get it there. He some how wiggled himself sideways so that he could chew on the bar while he watched Praise Baby. Note my "meal" in the background... humus and pretzels. It's my new favorite, I'm obsessed!

We decided since we are going to start some solid food soon that it was time to finally put together the high chair. Dad says, "hmmm...this is a little more difficult than i thought."

We have tried oatmeal cereal a few times, but we are just easing it in... not sure if oatmeal is going to be on his list of favorite foods.

My Favorite Time of Year

This is my favorite time of year. We get to have 6 different Christmas celebrations with all our family, then my birthday comes around a few days later, we always have a basketball tournament from the 27th through the 29th, and then we get to spend time with our friends on New Years. It's busy but I love being with everyone.
Cohen has been doing new things. This past weeks he has started sitting up a lot better and more consistently. He can sit on his own for a minute or so and then he gradually starts to lean and then topples to the side. He turns 4 months tomorrow so I decided to try cereal for the first time yesterday. It was supposed to be just an "experiment" because I didn't really think he would do that well the first time, but to my surprise he did great. He ate with the spoon just fine, the problem was keeping his hands out of his mouth. He would put his hands in his mouth right after each bite and then pull them out and rub the cereal all over his face. I'll have to get a picture of it soon and post it on my blog... it looked like a bomb of cereal went off on his face when we were done.

This is on my birthday night. My cousin Paige and uncle Neal kept Cohen while Chad and I went out with friends. Jaime and Julie made these cute cupcakes.
This is on Christmas morning. Santa left all these fun toys and clothes for Cohen. Pretty sure that didn't quite register with him...maybe next year!

This was on Christmas Eve. We read The Night Before Christmas before we put him to bed. He looked so cute in his Christmas Jammies. I could just eat him up!

We went to Edmond on Saturday and Sunday. It snowed. This was Cohen's first snow so we had to get a picture.

He just started wearing shoes for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We have had shoes, but none of them fit him. Up until now we were just sporting the fun and trendy socks.

If you guys read Mindi's blog you know that Chris and Mindi came to visit us a couple of weeks ago. It was so fun to see Cohen and Addison together for the first time. They were born exactly a week apart. Here they are playing on the Cowboys blanket.

Here they are cuddling up together on the couch. Chris was making sure Cohen kept his hands off.

So, maybe they are already a little competetive.
